“Hope is both the earilest and the most indispensable virtue inherent in the state of being alive. If life is to be sustained hope must remain, even where confidence is wounded, trust impaired.”  Erik H. Erickson

“Healthy children will not fear life if their elders have integrity enough not to fear death.”   Erik H. Erickson

All the world’s a stage” is the phrase that begins a monologue  from  William Shakespeare‘s  As You Like It, spoken by the melancholy Jaques in Act II Scene VII.  The speech compares the world to a stage and life to a play, and catalogues the seven stages of a man’s life, sometimes referred to as the seven ages of man: infant, schoolboy, lover, soldier, justice,  pantaloon, and second childhood, “sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything”. It is one of Shakespeare’s most frequently-quoted passages.

As we pass through the stages of life we can find at times difficulty in letting go of a previous stage. We may have fear of the unknown, pain, feelings of loss or worthlessness.

Distress over certain stages in our life can show up in abuse of alcohol, drugs, sex, shopping or affairs. Sometimes we need help in passing through or accepting the stage of life we are in. If so please do seek qualified help as every stop along life’s journey is an important one and there is value, happiness and joy to be had at any point in our lives
